וַיֹּ֨אמֶר הָעָ֜ם לֹ֣א תֵצֵ֗א כִּי֩ אִם־נֹ֨ס נָנ֜וּס לֹא־יָשִׂ֧ימוּ אֵלֵ֣ינוּ לֵ֗ב וְאִם־יָמֻ֤תוּ חֶצְיֵ֙נוּ֙ לֹֽא־יָשִׂ֤ימוּ אֵלֵ֙ינוּ֙ לֵ֔ב כִּֽי־עַתָּ֥ה כָמֹ֖נוּ עֲשָׂרָ֣ה אֲלָפִ֑ים וְעַתָּ֣ה ט֔וֹב כִּי־תִֽהְיֶה־לָּ֥נוּ מֵעִ֖יר לעזיר [לַעְזֽוֹר׃] (ס)
Aber die Leute sagten: 'Du sollst nicht ausgehen; denn wenn wir fliehen, werden sie sich nicht um uns kümmern; Auch wenn die Hälfte von uns stirbt, werden sie sich nicht um uns kümmern. aber du bist zehntausend von uns wert; darum ist es jetzt besser, dass du bereit bist, uns aus der Stadt zu bringen.'
