וַיֹּ֡אמֶר שַׁלְּחֵ֣נִי נָ֡א כִּ֣י זֶבַח֩ מִשְׁפָּחָ֨ה לָ֜נוּ בָּעִ֗יר וְה֤וּא צִוָּֽה־לִי֙ אָחִ֔י וְעַתָּ֗ה אִם־מָצָ֤אתִי חֵן֙ בְּעֵינֶ֔יךָ אִמָּ֥לְטָה נָּ֖א וְאֶרְאֶ֣ה אֶת־אֶחָ֑י עַל־כֵּ֣ן לֹא־בָ֔א אֶל־שֻׁלְחַ֖ן הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ (ס)
und er sprach: Lass mich gehen, ich bitte dich; denn unsere Familie hat ein Opfer in der Stadt; und mein Bruder hat mir geboten; und jetzt, wenn ich Gunst in deinen Augen gefunden habe, lass mich weggehen, ich bitte dich und sehe meine Brüder. Deshalb ist er nicht zum König gekommen's Tabelle.'

And he, my brother, summoned me. The eldest of the household, summoned me that I be here;29The phrase נִשְׁאֹל נִשְׁאַל reflects the two reasons for his request to go to Beis Lechem. One was to participate in his family’s annual sacrifice and the other reason was because the eldest of the household had summoned him there. and he is my brother Eliav.
