Stories of Mockery and Revenge

Hi, I’m a Christian writing about Jewish topics and this time it’s over the stories of karma and revenge through the Tanakh,

The Bible

the Bible is all about stories and lessons that blow your mind and give you wisdom, but sometimes someone mocks someone and it eventually leads to revenge, (it’s called sinning) I want to give you some of those stories to see.

Miriams mocks Moses

Lets start in Numbers, in chapter 12 there’s a story where Miriam, Aarons wife mocks Moses because he’s married with a girl from Cush, a foreign woman, where Jacob’s people —according to the law— is absolutely not allowed to marry with, well, later in that story, after the cloud was lifted, Miriam got struck with Leprousy

Numbers 12:10 And when the cloud was removed from over the Tent, behold, Miriam was leprous, as white as snow; and Aaron looked upon Miriam; and, behold, she was leprous.

This teaches you a lesson to not mock a godsman/prophet infront of their face, otherwise something bad happens to you

Korah got swallowed in the ground

Another one from Numbers, the infamous story about Korah, Korah is the one who led its people to mock Moses’ leadership, but Lo and Behold, the ground opened up and Korah and its people got swallowed in the groundwith their territory and belongings

Numbers 16:31 And it came to pass, as he made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground did cleave asunder that was under them. Numbers 16:32 And the earth opened her mouth and swallowed them up, and their households, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods. Numbers 16:33 So they, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit; and the earth closed upon them, and they perished from among the assembly.

That teaches you to not mock a man’s leadership as one person or with even a whole army or population or you get the same punishment as mocking a person.

Elisha’s revenge

This one’s one of my favorite stories of the Tanakh/Old Testament, in 2 Kings there’s a story where Elisha got mocked by a group of young children due to his baldness, well, that’s not a good idea because then Elisha cursed them and two she-bears mauled 24 kids of the group

II Kings 2:23 And he went up from thence unto Beth-el; and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him: ‘Go up, thou baldhead; go up, thou baldhead.’ II Kings 2:24 And he looked behind him and saw them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she-bears out of the wood, and tore forty and two children of them.

Again, this is over mockery so don’t mock someone, no matter is he’s a prophet, a priest, or even a believer in God.

Conclusion

With these stories, it’s here to tell you one big lesson, don’t mock someone, if it’s a prophet, a priest, a high priest, or even a believer, or something bad happens to you. Thats it for today, God bless, and peace.
