וְאֶל־אֶ֖רֶץ יַבִּ֑יט וְהִנֵּ֨ה צָרָ֤ה וַחֲשֵׁכָה֙ מְע֣וּף צוּקָ֔ה וַאֲפֵלָ֖ה מְנֻדָּֽח׃
or look unto the earth, behold distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish, and outspread thick darkness.
Targum Jonathan on Isaiah
And he shall seek help from the inhabitants of the earth, because there shall come upon him oppression, famine, weariness of oppression, darkness, and dispersion.
