וַיַּעֲלֶ֥ה אַחְאָ֖ב לֶאֱכֹ֣ל וְלִשְׁתּ֑וֹת וְאֵ֨לִיָּ֜הוּ עָלָ֨ה אֶל־רֹ֤אשׁ הַכַּרְמֶל֙ וַיִּגְהַ֣ר אַ֔רְצָה וַיָּ֥שֶׂם פָּנָ֖יו בֵּ֥ין ברכו [בִּרְכָּֽיו׃]
Achab se retira pour manger et boire, tandis qu’Élie montait au sommet du Carmel, où il se penchait vers la terre et mettait son visage entre ses genoux.

He bowed to the ground. [Targum Yonoson rendered,] “and he crouched on the ground,” to pray for rain.28He put his face between his knees with the intention of remaining in this cramped position until a sign of rain appeared.—Radak
