וַיִּשָּׂ֨א דָוִ֜יד אֶת־עֵינָ֗יו וַיַּ֞רְא אֶת־מַלְאַ֤ךְ יְהוָה֙ עֹמֵ֗ד בֵּ֤ין הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ וּבֵ֣ין הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וְחַרְבּ֤וֹ שְׁלוּפָה֙ בְּיָד֔וֹ נְטוּיָ֖ה עַל־יְרוּשָׁלִָ֑ם וַיִּפֹּ֨ל דָּוִ֧יד וְהַזְּקֵנִ֛ים מְכֻסִּ֥ים בַּשַּׂקִּ֖ים עַל־פְּנֵיהֶֽם׃
Daud melayangkan pandangannya dan melihat malaikat Yang Mahakekal berdiri di antara bumi dan langit dengan pedang terhunus di tangannya, teracung ke atas Yerusalem. Lalu Daud dan para tua-tua, yang berselubungkan kain kabung, sujud dengan muka ke tanah.

Dovid said to Adonoy when he saw the angel striking the people, and he said, "I have sinned, and I have acted perversely [but] this flock, what did it do? Your hand should [strike] me and my father's house."
