וַיֹּ֧אמֶר דָּוִ֛ד אֶל־גָּ֖ד צַר־לִ֣י מְאֹ֑ד נִפְּלָה־נָּ֤א בְיַד־יְהוָה֙ כִּֽי־רַבִּ֣ים רחמו [רַֽחֲמָ֔יו] וּבְיַד־אָדָ֖ם אַל־אֶפֹּֽלָה׃
Lalu Daud berkata kepada Gad: “Aku sangat tertekan. Biarlah kita jatuh ke dalam tangan Yang Mahakekal, sebab besar kasih sayang-Nya; tetapi janganlah aku jatuh ke dalam tangan manusia.”
I Chronicles
And David said to Gad: I am sorely oppressed. Let me fall now into the hand of the L-rd [(i.e., pestilence, which is entirely in the hand of the L-rd, but not sword or famine, which, to a certain extent, is mediated by man)], for His mercies are very many, but let me not fall into the hand of man.
