וַיֹּ֣אמֶר שָׁא֣וּל אֶֽל־הַקֵּינִ֡י לְכוּ֩ סֻּ֨רוּ רְד֜וּ מִתּ֣וֹךְ עֲמָלֵקִ֗י פֶּן־אֹֽסִפְךָ֙ עִמּ֔וֹ וְאַתָּ֞ה עָשִׂ֤יתָה חֶ֙סֶד֙ עִם־כָּל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בַּעֲלוֹתָ֖ם מִמִּצְרָ֑יִם וַיָּ֥סַר קֵינִ֖י מִתּ֥וֹךְ עֲמָלֵֽק׃
Saul berkata kepada orang Keni, “Pergilah, menyingkirlah, turunlah dari tengah-tengah orang Amalek, supaya aku tidak membinasakan kamu bersama mereka, sebab kamu telah menunjukkan kebaikan kepada seluruh bani Israel ketika mereka keluar dari Mesir.” Maka orang Keni pun menyingkir dari tengah-tengah orang Amalek.

R. Nehemiah began [to speak] in honour of the hospitality and expounded : What means that which is written, "And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them ; for ye showed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt" (I Sam. 15:6)? Can we not use here an a fortiori argument : If Jethro, who only befriended Moses for his own honour, is treated with so much consideration, how much more so one who entertains a disciple of the wise in his house, giving him to eat and drink, and allowing him to enjoy his possessions!
