Commento su II Samuele 8:2

וַיַּ֣ךְ אֶת־מוֹאָ֗ב וַֽיְמַדְּדֵ֤ם בַּחֶ֙בֶל֙ הַשְׁכֵּ֣ב אוֹתָ֣ם אַ֔רְצָה וַיְמַדֵּ֤ד שְׁנֵֽי־חֲבָלִים֙ לְהָמִ֔ית וּמְלֹ֥א הַחֶ֖בֶל לְהַחֲי֑וֹת וַתְּהִ֤י מוֹאָב֙ לְדָוִ֔ד לַעֲבָדִ֖ים נֹשְׂאֵ֥י מִנְחָֽה׃

E colpì Moab e li misurò con la linea, facendoli sdraiarsi a terra; e ha misurato due linee da mettere a morte e una linea intera da mantenere in vita. E i moabiti divennero servi di Davide e portarono regali.

Those measured with two ropes were killed. [This vengeance was] because they killed his father, his mother and his brothers as it is said, "He led them before the king of Moav." (Shmuel I, 22:4) We do not find that they ever left from there.4Yalkut Shimoni, 147.
