The Gate of Unity

(This then is the aspect of the lower father and mother, Yisroel Sabba and Tvunah. Yisroel Sabba is the aspect of the emotions of Chochmah, and Tvunah is the aspect of the emotions of Binah. However, these two are how these emotions come into revelation, to the outside. The aspect of Malchut of Tvunah is the aspect of the intellect which comes in thought, which is called the letters of intellectual thought (Machshevet Sechel), within which the intellect becomes invested. It is the external vessel for analytical thought (Machshava Iyunit), which is the revelation of the comprehension of Binah itself, from the aspect of the essence of the concept and explanation. From the aspect of Malchut of Tvunah is drawn the source of the letters of thought themselves, which is called Leah. This (Malchut of Tvunah) is the aspect of the large Dalet (ד) of the word3Deuteronomy 6:4 Echad-אחד.)

Shem MiShmuel

And behold the example of these is the verse of unification [Shema, Deuteronomy 6:4] and You shall love [Deuteronomy 6:5], being the tefillin of the head and the tefillin of the arm. It is like we say — the tefillin of the head is to subjugate the intellect and thought to God, may He be blessed; and the tefillin of the arm is to subjugate the desires and passion of the heart to Him, may He be blessed. And that is why we [put on] the tefillin of the head immediately after the one of the arm, to teach this matter mentioned above. It is like [the practice of] the people of Jericho who would bundle the Shema [saying 6:4 and 6:5 without interruption, Pesachim 65b-66a]. And here the reasoning of the sages to interrupt, to teach that both are required and one is not automatically pulled after the other, is irrelevant. As even without that, it is still two actions, and they are two commandments, so it is impossible to think that we can fulfill it [all] with one action. Hence, it is now more correct not to interrupt between them so that both teachings will come forward together.

Bat Ayin

And the Holy One, blessed be He, desired to uniquely establish His name, blessed be He, upon him completely. Therefore, He said to him afterward that he should go to the Land of Israel and Jerusalem, for there is the place of holiness, the aspect of Israel. Meaning, Israel is the aspect of stripping away of physicality, as the verse states (Deuteronomy 6:4): "Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One." Meaning that in this verse is the acceptance of the yoke of Heaven with self-sacrifice, and then they are called the aspect of Israel. And about this aspect it is said: "Thus says the Lord, King of Israel"—specifically, for He is not called King except over the aspect of Israel, the aspect of stripping away of physicality, as mentioned above. And this aspect, to attain it completely, is specifically in the Land of Israel.
