Kapłańska 4:26 Komentarz: Tiferet Shlomo, Rashi, Siftei Chakhamim & Rav Hirsch

“The priest will make an atonement for his sin, and he will be forgiven” we can explain this verse by what is written in the Gemara (Rosh Hashana 25:2) “The Verse equates three lowly sages {Gidon, Shimshon and Yiftach} with three great sages {Moshe, Aharon and Shemuel}” meaning since they weren’t as righteous as the earlier sages thus these low sages sought out the good aspects of others, and they didn’t hate them since they saw that they were in some aspect lacking righteousness. This too is the explanation of this verse “The priest will make an atonement” for when someone that sinned came to a priest seeking forgiveness the priest needed to see in himself [saying] “I too am like him” thus he would first forgive himself then forgive the other. This is the explanation of the verse, “ The priest will make an atonement for his sin” first he would seek forgiveness for himself, then “and he will be forgiven” the other will be forgiven.

Rashi

כחלב זבח השלמים [AND HE SHALL CAUSE ALL ITS FAT TO ASCEND IN FUMES], AS THE FAT OF THE SACRIFICE OF PEACE OFFERINGS — i. e. as those fat portions which are specified in the case of the goat that is mentioned among the peace-offerings (Leviticus 3:14, 15).

A goat. Rashi said “as those parts (אימורים)” instead of “as that fat” which would be understood [more directly] from the word [in the verse] “as the fat,” because Scripture does not intend to specify the fats. This is because the phrase, “all its fats” [already] includes all the fats. Rather, the verse’s intention is to add the lobe and the kidneys, which are not included in the statement, “all its fats.” Rashi [then] says: “which are detailed regarding a goat which is discussed [in the section dealing with] the peace-offering” because the peace-offering of a sheep also includes the tail fat among the אימורים, but the sin-offering of the leader is a goat, which has no tail fat.
