Ty się nie bój, sługo Mój, Jakóbie, rzecze Wiekuisty, bom Ja z tobą; choćbym zgładził doszczętnie wszystkie narody, do których cię rzucę, ciebie doszczętnie nie zgładzę, i będę cię karcił należycie, ale wytępić cię nie wytępię.

Rabbi Yosi then quoted the verse, "But fear not, O My servant Jacob, and be not dismayed, Yisrael" (Jer. 46:27). This verse has already been explained. Nevertheless, after Jacob had received his father's blessings, he searched himself and said, I want these very blessings to be postponed for the time, so they will last. He was frightened. A voice resounded, saying "Fear not, O Jacob My servant, says Hashem, for I am with you" (Ibid. 28), and I will never leave you, for, "behold, I will save you from afar" (Ibid. 27) at the time for which the blessings were reserved.
