[4] Another interpretation: "and Yaakov was called." It is said in scriptures: "Go my sons, listen to me, I will teach you the fear of the Lord." (Psalm 34:12) When righteous people depart from this world, they are not remembered by their children because of their wealth or possessions, but because of their fear of God. This is also found in David, as it is written, "When David’s life was drawing to a close, he instructed his son Solomon as follows: “I am going the way of all the earth; be strong and show yourself a man. Keep the charge of the LORD your God, walking in His ways and following His laws, His commandments, His rules, and His admonitions as recorded in the Teaching of Moses, in order that you may succeed in whatever you undertake and wherever you turn.'" (1 Kings 2:1-3). Similarly, Jacob commanded his children for the fear of God, as it says, "I will teach you the fear of the Lord."
