Ciemięzcy jej stanęli na czele, wrogowie jej bezpieczni. Bo Wiekuisty przepełnił ją żałobą dla mnóstwa jej grzechów; dziatwa jej poszła w niewolę przed obliczem ciemięzcy.

Or HaChaim

It is customary for the kings and leaders of highly developed countries to point with pride to the intelligentsia of their nation which alone is responsible for the prominence and the high regard in which their country is held. Wherever Jews were exiled, the host country developed out of all proportion due to the Jewish contribution to their host country (compare Lamentations 1,5) "its oppressors developed into being the head." In the case of Egypt, the elite were the Jews. Allowing the elite to depart was equivalent to what is called a "brain drain" in contemporary society. Pharaoh told his countrymen that unless they took measures to prevent such a brain drain, i.e. forbid the Jews to leave, they would eventually also lose their position in the world as a leading civilisation. The reason the Jews might decide to leave Egypt was that they admired brainpower not military power. If Egypt were to be involved in warfare, the Jews might prefer to migrate elsewhere.

Someone named Onkelos was the nephew of the evil Titus and he wanted to convert to Judaism. Through magical means he was able to speak with Titus and asked him who are the most important in the next world? Titus said, Israel. Then he said: should I convert and should I join them? He responded: they have too many commandments. You will not be able to observe them all. Do the following. Torment them greatly and you will become a great person, since Scripture says, “her enemies are now masters” [Lamentations, 1:5]. He said: how are you judged in the next world? He responded: just as I ruled concerning myself. I ordered that I should be burned and I should be spread in seven places, so is done to me. Every day my ashes are gathered and I am judged. Afterwards, I am burned and my ashes are spread in seven places.

V. 19. חזה שוק behält das Heiligtum von dem zum Selbstgenusse der בעלים bestimmten Opfertiere für den כהן zurück. זרוע בשלה wird jedoch dem כהן von dem bereits ganz zum Selbstgenusse der בעלים zubereiteten Tiere. Der ורוע ist מושל über das, was das שוק erstrebt hat.

three...verses Our Rabbis (Moed Katan 26a) stated. This was the Scroll of Lamentations. They read before him, (1:1) “How...(:2) She weeps...(ibid. 3) Judah has been exiled...(ibid. 4) The roads of Zion are mournful.” Despite all this, he was not troubled. He said, “I am the king over the survivors.” As soon as he read (ibid. 5), Her adversaries have become the head,” he said, “From now on, I am [no longer] the king.” Immediately, he rent it with a scribe’s razor.
