וַיִּשְׁמְע֣וּ פְלִשְׁתִּ֗ים כִּי־נִמְשַׁ֨ח דָּוִ֤יד לְמֶ֙לֶךְ֙ עַל־כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיַּעֲל֥וּ כָל־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֖ים לְבַקֵּ֣שׁ אֶת־דָּוִ֑יד וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע דָּוִ֔יד וַיֵּצֵ֖א לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃
A gdy Filistyni usłyszeli, że Dawid został namaszczony na króla nad całym Izraelem, wszyscy Filistyni poszli szukać Dawida; Dawid usłyszał o tym i wyszedł im na spotkanie.

The Pelishtim heard that they had anointed Dovid to be king over Yisroel. All the Pelishtim went up seeking [to fight] Dovid. Dovid heard [about this] and descended to the fortress.

The Pelishtim came and fanned out acros the valley of Rephaim.

Dovid asked of Adonoy, saying, "Should I go up [to fight] the Pelishtim? Will they be delivered into my hands?" Adonoy said to Dovid, "Go up, because I will deliver the Pelishtim into your hands."
