וַיֹּ֣אמֶר הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ מַה־לִּ֥י וְלָכֶ֖ם בְּנֵ֣י צְרֻיָ֑ה כי [כֹּ֣ה] יְקַלֵּ֗ל וכי [כִּ֤י] יְהוָה֙ אָ֤מַר לוֹ֙ קַלֵּ֣ל אֶת־דָּוִ֔ד וּמִ֣י יֹאמַ֔ר מַדּ֖וּעַ עָשִׂ֥יתָה כֵּֽן׃ (ס)

Disse, porém, o rei:  Que tenho eu convosco, filhos de Zeruia? Por ele amaldiçoar e por lhe ter dito o SENHOR:  Amaldiçoa a Davi; quem dirá:  Por que assim fizeste?

God told him. Is it possible that a man like him who is head of the Sanhedrin would curse the king if he were not told [to do so] by God?
