וַיָּב֗וֹא וְהִנֵּ֣ה עֵ֠לִי יֹשֵׁ֨ב עַֽל־הַכִּסֵּ֜א יך [יַ֥ד] דֶּ֙רֶךְ֙ מְצַפֶּ֔ה כִּֽי־הָיָ֤ה לִבּוֹ֙ חָרֵ֔ד עַ֖ל אֲר֣וֹן הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים וְהָאִ֗ישׁ בָּ֚א לְהַגִּ֣יד בָּעִ֔יר וַתִּזְעַ֖ק כָּל־הָעִֽיר׃
Pagdating niya, naroon si Eli, nakaupo sa kanyang upuan sa tabi ng daan at nagbabantay, sapagkat nanginginig sa pangamba ang kanyang puso dahil sa kaban ng Diyos. At dumating ang lalaki upang ibalita ito sa lungsod, at nanaghoy ang buong lungsod.
