Kaisipang Hudyo sa Mga Awit 119:136: Duties

Duties of the Heart

It is also related of some ascetics that they spent the whole of their lives in repentance. Each day they were moved to renewed repentance, because every day their recognition of G-d's greatness increased, and they realized how much they had fallen short in the fulfillment of their obligation of service in the past, as David said, "Day communicates knowledge unto day" (Ps. 19:2). Furthermore, it is said, "Streams of water run down mine eyes, because they kept not Your laws." (Ps. 119:136).

Duties of the Heart

(4) By tears, lamentations, and mourning, the penitent should express remorse for the sin he had committed, as written "Rivers of waters run down my eyes because they did not keep Your commandments" (Tehilim 119:136), and "Let the priests, the ministers of the L-ord, weep between the porch and the altar" (Yoel 2:17)

Duties of the Heart

* Another sign (of love of G-d) is joy and delight in one's merits, not out of pride or arrogance but out of rejoicing in them, while mourning and grieving over his sins, repenting and regretting them as David said: "Rivers of waters run down my eyes, because they did not keep Your Torah" (Tehilim 119:136).
