וַיִּמְאֲס֣וּ אֶת־חֻקָּ֗יו וְאֶת־בְּרִיתוֹ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר כָּרַ֣ת אֶת־אֲבוֹתָ֔ם וְאֵת֙ עֵֽדְוֺתָ֔יו אֲשֶׁ֥ר הֵעִ֖יד בָּ֑ם וַיֵּ֨לְכ֜וּ אַחֲרֵ֤י הַהֶ֙בֶל֙ וַיֶּהְבָּ֔לוּ וְאַחֲרֵ֤י הַגּוֹיִם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר סְבִֽיבֹתָ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֨ר צִוָּ֤ה יְהוָה֙ אֹתָ֔ם לְבִלְתִּ֖י עֲשׂ֥וֹת כָּהֶֽם׃
Itinakwil nila ang Kanyang mga alituntunin at ang Kanyang tipan na Kanyang pinagtibay sa kanilang mga ninuno, at ang Kanyang mga babala na ibinigay Niya sa kanila. Sumunod sila sa mga bagay na walang kabuluhan at sila mismo ay naging walang kabuluhan. Sumunod din sila sa mga bansang nakapalibot sa kanila, na tungkol sa mga ito ay iniutos sa kanila ng Walang-Hanggan na huwag silang gumaya sa mga iyon.

Or, the intent is that one is astonished and wonders in his heart from the world and its inhabitants, how they busy themselves without a [true] purpose, and "follow the vanities, etc." (Melachim II 17:15) and to abhor their affairs, as in (Daniel 8:27) "I was appalled by the vision; it was beyond understanding".
