וָאֹמַ֣ר לַמֶּ֔לֶךְ הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ לְעוֹלָ֣ם יִחְיֶ֑ה מַדּ֜וּעַ לֹא־יֵרְע֣וּ פָנַ֗י אֲשֶׁ֨ר הָעִ֜יר בֵּית־קִבְר֤וֹת אֲבֹתַי֙ חֲרֵבָ֔ה וּשְׁעָרֶ֖יהָ אֻכְּל֥וּ בָאֵֽשׁ׃ (ס)
און איך האָב געזאָגט צום מלך: אײביק לעבן זאָל דער מלך! פֿאַר װאָס זאָל מײַן פּנים ניט זײַן טרױעריק, אַז די שטאָט, דער אָרט פֿון מײַנע עלטערנס קבֿרים, איז חרבֿ, און אירע טױערן זײַנען פֿאַרצערט פֿון פֿײַער?
Mishnah Pesachim
How is the pesah roasted?They bring a spit of pomegranate wood and thrust it into its mouth [right down] as far as its buttocks, and place its legs and its entrails inside it, the words of Rabbi Yose the Galilean. Rabbi Akiva says: this is like boiling, rather they are hung outside it.
