2 The splitting of the Red Sea: It was in the merit of our father Abraham, peace be upon him. That is as our rabbis, may their memory be blessed, wrote in Yalkut Tehillim (Yalkut Shimoni on Nach 863:18), "For He remembered His holy word to Abraham His servant (Psalms 105:42) — Rabbi Elazar ben Azariah said, 'In the merit of Abraham am I splitting the sea for them.'" And they also said in Yalkut Yehoshua (Yalkut Shimoni on Nach 15:1) that it was in the merit of our father Abraham, peace be upon him, that He split the sea. And they said in the Yalkut, Parashat Vayera, on the verse, and he split the wood for the burnt offering (Yalkut on Torah 98:1), "In the merit of the two splittings that Abraham split the wood for the burnt offering, he merited that the sea should be split before his children. And through this, the pious rabbi our teacher, our rabbi, Rabbi Gavriel Esperanza, may his memory be for a merit in the world to come, explained the intention of the verse, To Him who divided the Red Sea into shreds (Psalms 136:13): The intention of, To Him who divided the Red Sea is it is on account of the sections [of wood] that our father Abraham, peace be upon him, split.
