וְהָאָ֗רֶץ הָיְתָ֥ה תֹ֙הוּ֙ וָבֹ֔הוּ וְחֹ֖שֶׁךְ עַל־פְּנֵ֣י תְה֑וֹם וְר֣וּחַ אֱלֹהִ֔ים מְרַחֶ֖פֶת עַל־פְּנֵ֥י הַמָּֽיִם׃

און די ערד איז געװען װיסט און לײדיק, און פֿינצטערניש איז געװען אױפֿן געזיכט פֿון תּהום, און דער גײַסט פֿון גאָט האָט געשװעבט אױפֿן געזיכט פֿון די װאַסערן.

And the earth was desolate and empty, and darkness came off the face of the water, and a wind from God blew over the face of the water.
