וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַי֮ הֲרָאִ֣יתָ בֶן־אָדָם֒ אֲשֶׁ֨ר זִקְנֵ֤י בֵֽית־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ עֹשִׂ֣ים בַּחֹ֔שֶׁךְ אִ֖ישׁ בְּחַדְרֵ֣י מַשְׂכִּית֑וֹ כִּ֣י אֹמְרִ֗ים אֵ֤ין יְהוָה֙ רֹאֶ֣ה אֹתָ֔נוּ עָזַ֥ב יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־הָאָֽרֶץ׃

Da sprach er zu mir: 'Menschensohn, hast du gesehen, was die Ältesten des Hauses Israel im Dunkeln tun, jeder Mann in seinen Bildkammern? denn sie sagen: Der HERR sieht uns nicht, der HERR hat das Land verlassen.'

Do you see what people do in their homes in private, in assuming that God has left the land in charge of some [impersonal] framework and does not directly see and guide this world, and therefore they worship the lower spheres to exact favor from them and their hosts in the heavens
