וְהִגַּדְתֶּ֣ם לְאָבִ֗י אֶת־כָּל־כְּבוֹדִי֙ בְּמִצְרַ֔יִם וְאֵ֖ת כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר רְאִיתֶ֑ם וּמִֽהַרְתֶּ֛ם וְהוֹרַדְתֶּ֥ם אֶת־אָבִ֖י הֵֽנָּה׃
Erzählet meinem Vater, was für Ehre ich in Ägypten habe, und alles, was ihr gesehen habt. Eilet und bringt meinen Vater hierher!

The reason why he included mention of the honour he enjoyed in Egypt was to convince his father that he had no cause to worry if he moved to Egypt as a new immigrant, an alien; his son Joseph had the power to ensure that he would be treated with the respect and deference due him.
