הִנֵּ֨ה הָי֤וּ כְקַשׁ֙ אֵ֣שׁ שְׂרָפָ֔תַם לֹֽא־יַצִּ֥ילוּ אֶת־נַפְשָׁ֖ם מִיַּ֣ד לֶֽהָבָ֑ה אֵין־גַּחֶ֣לֶת לַחְמָ֔ם א֖וּר לָשֶׁ֥בֶת נֶגְדּֽוֹ׃
Sie sind wie Stoppeln, Feuer verbrennt sie, sie retten nicht ihr Leben aus der Gewalt der Flamme [und hinterlassen] keine Kohle, sich an ihr zu wärmen, keine Glut, davor zu sitzen.
