וַיַּעַמְד֡וּ הַמַּיִם֩ הַיֹּרְדִ֨ים מִלְמַ֜עְלָה קָ֣מוּ נֵד־אֶחָ֗ד הַרְחֵ֨ק מְאֹ֜ד באדם [מֵֽאָדָ֤ם] הָעִיר֙ אֲשֶׁר֙ מִצַּ֣ד צָֽרְתָ֔ן וְהַיֹּרְדִ֗ים עַ֣ל יָ֧ם הָעֲרָבָ֛ה יָם־הַמֶּ֖לַח תַּ֣מּוּ נִכְרָ֑תוּ וְהָעָ֥ם עָבְר֖וּ נֶ֥גֶד יְרִיחֽוֹ׃
Da stand das von oben herabfließende Wasser still, aufrecht wie ein Damm, sehr weit von der Stadt Adam, die zur Seite von Zortan; das herabfließende Wasser ergoß sich nach dem Meer der Steppe, der Salzsee, und schwand völlig, und das Volk zog hindurch nach Jericho zu. [Das vom Norden kommende Wasser staute bei Adam, während das andere Wasser abfloß; es entstand somit ein trockener Weg mitten durch den Jordan.]
