וּלְכָלֵ֣ב בֶּן־יְפֻנֶּ֗ה נָ֤תַן חֵ֙לֶק֙ בְּת֣וֹךְ בְּנֵֽי־יְהוּדָ֔ה אֶל־פִּ֥י יְהוָ֖ה לִֽיהוֹשֻׁ֑עַ אֶת־קִרְיַ֥ת אַרְבַּ֛ע אֲבִ֥י הָעֲנָ֖ק הִ֥יא חֶבְרֽוֹן׃
Kaleb dem Sohne Jefunnes, gab man als Teil unter den Sohnen Jehuda nach dem Befehle des Herrn an Josua: Kirjat Arba [die Stadt des Arba], des Vaters des Anak, das ist Hebron. 14 Kaleb vertrieb von dort die drei Söhne des Anak: Sesai und Ahiman und Talmai [die Kinder des Anak].

Even though the city of Chevron had been promised to Caleiv (see Rashi to Bamidbor 14:24), it was not clear within the territory of which tribe it would be located. It was Divinely ordained that Chevron would fall within the territory of the tribe of Yehudah, so that Caleiv would not be separated from his fellow tribesmen.
