וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אַחְאָב֙ אֶל־עֹ֣בַדְיָ֔הוּ לֵ֤ךְ בָּאָ֙רֶץ֙ אֶל־כָּל־מַעְיְנֵ֣י הַמַּ֔יִם וְאֶ֖ל כָּל־הַנְּחָלִ֑ים אוּלַ֣י ׀ נִמְצָ֣א חָצִ֗יר וּנְחַיֶּה֙ ס֣וּס וָפֶ֔רֶד וְל֥וֹא נַכְרִ֖ית מֵהַבְּהֵמָֽה׃

Ahab hatte zu Obadja gesprochen: Gehe durch das Land zu allen Wasserquellen und Bächen, vielleicht finden wir Gras und erhalten Ross und Maultier, dass wir nicht alles Vieh verlieren.

And we will not be bereft of [our] animals. All our animals will not be cut off from us.

Tze'enah Ure'enah

“And Ahab said” [18:5]. Ahab said to Obadiah. Go to all the wells of water and all the springs in the land where there was water to see if you can find water and grass so that our horses and donkeys might remain alive.
