מִ֭שָּׁמַיִם הִשְׁמַ֣עְתָּ דִּ֑ין אֶ֖רֶץ יָֽרְאָ֣ה וְשָׁקָֽטָה׃
Vom Himmel lässt du Gericht erschallen, — die Erde erschrickt und wird still,

Rabbi Ḥiyya said, “When the Holy One, blessed be he, revealed Himself on Mount Sinai to give the Torah to Israel, the earth was appeased and rested satisfied. Thus it is written, the earth saw and was quiet (Ps. 140:14).”
