Machzor Rosh Hashanah Ashkenaz Linear

1) Rosh Hashana corresponds to the first day of creation and the shofar proclaims the sovereignty of the Creator. We are obliged to coronate God as King on this day in the manner written by Dovid, “בַּחֲצֹצְרוֹת וְקוֹל שׁוֹפָר הָרִיעוּ לִפְנֵי הַמֶּלֶךְ ה', With trumpets and the sound of shofar, call out in the presence of the King, Almighty” (Psalms 48:6).

Selichot Edot HaMizrach

The tribe of Judah is in dire straits and in pain, does the lion [not] roar in the forest? They hope for Your salvation, the fathers and the children, poor and destitute. Stand in the breach, so that we not become a mockery; why, Lord, do You stand afar? Your doves have reached the gates of death; appear, the One who sits upon the cherubs. Bring us help from distress; is the hand of the Lord too short? Renew our days in the old exile; awake, why do You sleep? Remember Your children in a land not theirs, so that a stranger not approach them. The hidden end, reveal to the lonely one; Zion shall rejoice, the daughters of Judah shall be gladdened. Let their prayers rise to the high heavens, to the King that sits on His throne of mercy.

For as Your Name, so is Your praise,10See Tehillim 48:11. This refers to His Name, described in the thirteen attributes of Hashem. You are slow to anger and easy to pacify;11See Maseches Avos 5:1. For You do not desire death [for the sinner] but that he turn from his evil way and live.12See Yechezkel 18:32, 18:23. And even until his dying day, You wait for him— if he repents, You immediately accept him.

For as Your Name, so is Your praise,14See Tehillim 48:11. This refers to His Name, described in the thirteen attributes of Hashem. You are slow to anger and easy to pacify;15See Maseches Avos 5:1. And even until his dying day, You wait for him— if he repents, You immediately accept him. True, You are their Creator, and You know their impulse that they are [but] flesh and blood. Man, his beginning is from dust and ends in dust; risking his life, he gets his bread, he is like a potsherd that is breakable, like grass that withers, like the flower that fades, like the shadow that passes, like the cloud that vanishes, like the wind that blows, like the dust that flies, and like a fleeting dream.
