וַיִּשְׁלַ֞ח יְהוֹאָ֣שׁ מֶֽלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אֶל־אֲמַצְיָ֣הוּ מֶֽלֶךְ־יְהוּדָה֮ לֵאמֹר֒ הַח֜וֹחַ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּלְּבָנ֗וֹן שָׁ֠לַח אֶל־הָאֶ֜רֶז אֲשֶׁ֤ר בַּלְּבָנוֹן֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר תְּנָֽה־אֶת־בִּתְּךָ֥ לִבְנִ֖י לְאִשָּׁ֑ה וַֽתַּעֲבֹ֞ר חַיַּ֤ת הַשָּׂדֶה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּלְּבָנ֔וֹן וַתִּרְמֹ֖ס אֶת־הַחֽוֹחַ׃
Da ließ Joas, König von Israel, dem Amazja, König von Jehuda, sagen: Der Dornstrauch auf dem Libanon sandte einst zu der Zeder auf dem Libanon und ließ sagen: Gib deine Tochter meinem Sohne zur Frau. Da fuhr einher das Wild des Feldes, das auf dem Libanon war, und zertrat den Dornstrauch.
II Chronicles
And Yoash, king of Israel, sent to Amatzyahu, king of Judah, saying: The thornbush in the Levanon [(Shechem, the son of Chamor)] sent to the cedar in the Levanon [(Jacob)], saying: Give your daughter to my son as a wife. And the animals of the Levanon passed by and trod down the thornbush [(i.e., the sons of Jacob despoiled the slain [(You, too, in your haughtiness, will be trodden down by my cohorts])].
