הַכֵּ֣ה תַכֶּ֗ה אֶת־יֹֽשְׁבֵ֛י הָעִ֥יר ההוא [הַהִ֖יא] לְפִי־חָ֑רֶב הַחֲרֵ֨ם אֹתָ֧הּ וְאֶת־כָּל־אֲשֶׁר־בָּ֛הּ וְאֶת־בְּהֶמְתָּ֖הּ לְפִי־חָֽרֶב׃
du sollst die Bewohner dieser Stadt mit der Schärfe des Schwertes schlagen und es völlig zerstören, und alles, was darin ist, und das Vieh davon mit der Schärfe des Schwertes.
Targum Jonathan on Deuteronomy
you shall smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, to destroy it utterly and whatever is therein, even its cattle, with the edge of the sword.
