וַיַּחְפְּר֧וּ כָל־מִצְרַ֛יִם סְבִיבֹ֥ת הַיְאֹ֖ר מַ֣יִם לִשְׁתּ֑וֹת כִּ֣י לֹ֤א יָֽכְלוּ֙ לִשְׁתֹּ֔ת מִמֵּימֵ֖י הַיְאֹֽר׃
Die Ägypter gruben in den Bezirken des Flusses nach Wasser zum Trinken, denn sie vermochten nicht zu trinken von dem Wasser des Flusses.
Targum Jonathan on Exodus
And the Mizraee digged about the river for water to drink, but could not find them pure; for they were not able to drink of the water from the river.
