הָעֲנִיִּ֨ים וְהָאֶבְיוֹנִ֜ים מְבַקְשִׁ֥ים מַ֙יִם֙ וָאַ֔יִן לְשׁוֹנָ֖ם בַּצָּמָ֣א נָשָׁ֑תָּה אֲנִ֤י יְהוָה֙ אֶעֱנֵ֔ם אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֹ֥א אֶעֶזְבֵֽם׃
Die Armen und die Dürftigen verlangen nach Wasser, und es ist keins da, ihre Zunge verdorrt vor Durst. Ich, der Herr, erhöre sie, ich, der Gott Israels, verlasse sie nicht.
Targum Jonathan on Isaiah
The poor and the needy long after instruction, as the thirsty after water, but do not find it; their spirit faints in affliction. I, the Lord, will hear their prayer; I, the God of Israel, will not cast them off.
