כִּי־יֵ֣שׁ אָדָ֗ם שֶׁעֲמָל֛וֹ בְּחָכְמָ֥ה וּבְדַ֖עַת וּבְכִשְׁר֑וֹן וּלְאָדָ֞ם שֶׁלֹּ֤א עָֽמַל־בּוֹ֙ יִתְּנֶ֣נּוּ חֶלְק֔וֹ גַּם־זֶ֥ה הֶ֖בֶל וְרָעָ֥ה רַבָּֽה׃
Denn mancher müht sich mit Klugheit und Einsicht und Tüchtigkeit, und einem Menschen, der sich gar nicht darum gemüht, gibt er [die Früchte seiner Arbeit] zu Teil; auch das ist Eitelkeit und ein großes Übel.
Aramaic Targum to Ecclesiastes
Because there is a man whose labour is in wisdom, reason, and justice, and he dies without issue; and to a man who did not labour for it, he is to give it, that it may be his portion; also this is vanity, and a great evil.
