שָׁכְב֨וּ לָאָ֤רֶץ חוּצוֹת֙ נַ֣עַר וְזָקֵ֔ן בְּתוּלֹתַ֥י וּבַחוּרַ֖י נָפְל֣וּ בֶחָ֑רֶב הָרַ֙גְתָּ֙ בְּי֣וֹם אַפֶּ֔ךָ טָבַ֖חְתָּ לֹ֥א חָמָֽלְתָּ׃ (ס)
Die Jugend und der alte Mann liegen auf dem Boden auf den Straßen; Meine Jungfrauen und meine jungen Männer sind vom Schwert gefallen; Du hast sie am Tag deines Zorns getötet; Du hast schonungslos geschlachtet.
Aramaic Targum to Lamentations
The young and the old who were accustomed to recline on pillows of fine wool and upon ivory couches were prostrate on the earth of the open markets. My virgins and youths have fallen, killed by the sword. You have killed in the day of your anger; you have slaughtered and shown no pity.
