וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוָה֮ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֣ה וְאֶֽל־אַהֲרֹן֒ יַ֚עַן לֹא־הֶאֱמַנְתֶּ֣ם בִּ֔י לְהַ֨קְדִּישֵׁ֔נִי לְעֵינֵ֖י בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל לָכֵ֗ן לֹ֤א תָבִ֙יאוּ֙ אֶת־הַקָּהָ֣ל הַזֶּ֔ה אֶל־הָאָ֖רֶץ אֲשֶׁר־נָתַ֥תִּי לָהֶֽם׃
Der Herr sprach zu Mose und zu Aaron: Weil ihr nicht an mich geglaubt habt, um mich zu verherrlichen vor den Augen der Kinder Israel, deswegen sollt ihr diese Versammlung nicht bringen in das Land, das ich ihnen gebe.*) *) Worin die Sünde Moses und Aarons bestand, ist aus der Darstellung nicht deutlich ersichtlich; wahrscheinlich war es die Schwäche, die sie dem Volke gegenüber bekundet haben.
Targum Jonathan on Numbers
But the Lord spake to Mosheh and Aharon with the oath, Because ye have not believed in My Word, to sanctify Me in the sight of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this congregation into the land that I will give them.
