וַיֹּאמְר֨וּ אֵלָ֥יו בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֘ל בַּֽמְסִלָּ֣ה נַעֲלֶה֒ וְאִם־מֵימֶ֤יךָ נִשְׁתֶּה֙ אֲנִ֣י וּמִקְנַ֔י וְנָתַתִּ֖י מִכְרָ֑ם רַ֥ק אֵין־דָּבָ֖ר בְּרַגְלַ֥י אֶֽעֱבֹֽרָה׃
Die Kinder Israel ließen nochmals sagen: Auf gebahnter Straße wollen wir ziehen, und wenn wir, ich und meine Herden, dein Wasser trinken, so will ich den Preis dafür geben; auch nicht das Geringste verlange ich, zu Fuße will ich durchziehen.
Targum Jonathan on Numbers
And Israel said to him, We would go by the king's highway; if we drink thy waters, I and my cattle, I will give thee the price of their value. I will only pass through, without doing wrong.
