Shavuot is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the giving of the Torah to the Jewish people at Mount Sinai. The holiday falls exactly 50 days after the second day of Passover and is also known as the Feast of Weeks. Shavuot is a time of joy and celebration in Jewish tradition. It is customary to stay up all night studying the Torah, reciting special prayers and hymns, and eating dairy foods like cheesecake and blintzes.
