Commentary for Jonah 1:16

וַיִּֽירְא֧וּ הָאֲנָשִׁ֛ים יִרְאָ֥ה גְדוֹלָ֖ה אֶת־יְהוָ֑ה וַיִּֽזְבְּחוּ־זֶ֙בַח֙ לַֽיהוָ֔ה וַֽיִּדְּר֖וּ נְדָרִֽים׃

Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly; and they offered a sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows.

and they made vows—that they would proselytize.
