Targum for Numbers 4:13
וְדִשְּׁנ֖וּ אֶת־הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַ וּפָרְשׂ֣וּ עָלָ֔יו בֶּ֖גֶד אַרְגָּמָֽן׃
And they shall take away the ashes from the altar, and spread a purple cloth thereon.

And they shall remove the cinders from the altar, and overspread it with a covering of crimson.
