Comentario citado sobre Génesis 28:22

Ibn Ezra

“And the earth” – this word is an unusual [form], since it appears with a kamatz in the alef when [preceded by] the hey [i.e., the definite article] in all places. It is not like “The thousand (ha’elef) for you, Shlomo” Song of Songs 8:12, or “and this stone ha’even” Genesis 28:22.

Until I find a place for the Lord – 1] That the place be found where the Sanctuary will be built, as it is written “And it will be, that the place the Lord, your God, will choose…” (Deuteronomy 12:11) and they did not know at first where the chosen place was. 2] dwellings for the Mighty One of Jacob, after the place is found. the Sanctuary (where the Lord will dwell permanently), will be built. Since the fact that the Lord will dwell on earth in a particular place was revealed to Yaakov in a dream, and he said “This is none other than the house of God…” (Genesis 28:17) therefore the verse says ‘for the One of Jacob.’ So too, just as Yaakov swore an oath there and said “Then this stone, which I have placed as a monument, shall be a house of God…” (Genesis 28:22) the psalm says “…he vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob.” (Psalms 132:2)

it is a duty to tithe -- it is written in the Shl"a and the book "Kenei Chachma", that this is not only for produce, but rather for all good a person receives, he is under duty to tithe it. And from all profit that G-d bestows on a man, he is obligated to give one tenth to the poor. Since, behold, the forefathers took on themselves to do this as written: "he (Abraham) gave him one tenth of everything" (Bereishis 14:20) and "of all that you give me I will give a full tenth to you" (ibid 28:22), and "put Me to the test, says the L-ord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need" (Malachi 3:10). Since this mitzvah is lax in our times, it is proper to remind and make known its importance. Here is an excerpt from the book "Yesh Nochalim" (ch.2 ot 30) and the Sefer Chareidim siman 144: "woe to those who refrain from giving their maaser, for in the end nothing will remain in their hands except the one tenth. This is something tangibly visible for in the places where people were careful to take maaser properly, they became wealthy and their wealth stayed by them until they bequeathed it to their children. While in those places where people were not careful in this, they lost their wealth through some calamity and bequeath nothing to their children... see there and the book Kenei Chachma at length.

אשר נדרת לי WHERE THOU VOWEDST A VOW UNTO ME —and you are bound to fulfill it, for you said (Genesis 28:22) “it shall be God’s house”, signifying that you would offer sacrifice there.

הבא בידו AND TOOK OF THAT WHICH CAME TO HIS HAND (literally, in his hand) — in his possession, similar to (Numbers 21:26) “and he had taken all his land out of his possession (מידו).” A Midrashic explanation is: מן הבא בידו — precious stones and jewels which a person ties up in a package and carries in his hand. Another explanation is: מן הבא בידו THAT WHICH A MAN MAY TAKE INTO HIS OWN POSSESSION — of that which no longer has a sacred character — for he had set aside the tithe, just as you read (28:22) “[And Jacob vowed] … I will surely give the tenth unto Thee”. Only afterwards did he take the present of what was left after the tithe had been set aside, and this was that which he might rightly take into his own possession.
