“When you build a new house, you shall make a parapet for your roof” (Deut.22:8). And we shall begin by explaining the verse 'And God saw the light that it was good' (Gen. 1:4). Seemingly, the meaning is that after the light came into being, the Almighty saw the light that it was good, yet Heaven forbid to think or say about the Creator, the Blessed, the One, simple, true [Being] without any change, that at first God did not see and now God saw that it was good! The truth is that the providence and sight of the Holy One of Blessing is for everything to be in goodness, and every place where God supervises is in order that the thing should be in goodness and perfection, and this is [the meaning of] 'And God saw the light' - that is, that God supervised it with the eye of God’s providence, 'that it was good' - in order that it should be good.
