כִּ֣י אִם־הַחֲרֵ֣שׁ תַּחֲרִישִׁי֮ בָּעֵ֣ת הַזֹּאת֒ רֶ֣וַח וְהַצָּלָ֞ה יַעֲמ֤וֹד לַיְּהוּדִים֙ מִמָּק֣וֹם אַחֵ֔ר וְאַ֥תְּ וּבֵית־אָבִ֖יךְ תֹּאבֵ֑דוּ וּמִ֣י יוֹדֵ֔עַ אִם־לְעֵ֣ת כָּזֹ֔את הִגַּ֖עַתְּ לַמַּלְכֽוּת׃
car si tu persistes à garder le silence à l’heure où nous sommes, la délivrance et le salut surgiront pour les juifs d’autre part, tandis que toi et la maison de ton père vous périrez. Et qui sait si ce n’est pas pour une conjoncture pareille que tu es parvenue à la royauté? »

Who knows whether, at this time next year, you will retain your royal position. [I.e.,] “And who knows whether the king will desire you next year, which is the time of the massacre.”6I.e., who knows whether you will be spared from the decree.
