יָד֙וֹעַ֙ תֵּֽדְע֔וּ כִּי֩ לֹ֨א יוֹסִ֜יף יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֗ם לְהוֹרִ֛ישׁ אֶת־הַגּוֹיִ֥ם הָאֵ֖לֶּה מִלִּפְנֵיכֶ֑ם וְהָי֨וּ לָכֶ֜ם לְפַ֣ח וּלְמוֹקֵ֗שׁ וּלְשֹׁטֵ֤ט בְּצִדֵּיכֶם֙ וְלִצְנִנִ֣ים בְּעֵינֵיכֶ֔ם עַד־אֲבָדְכֶ֗ם מֵ֠עַל הָאֲדָמָ֤ה הַטּוֹבָה֙ הַזֹּ֔את אֲשֶׁר֙ נָתַ֣ן לָכֶ֔ם יְהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃
sachez-le bien, l’Éternel, votre Dieu, cessera de déposséder ces peuples à votre profit, et ils deviendront pour vous un piège et un écueil, une verge à vos flancs et des épines dans vos yeux jusqu’à ce que vous ayez disparu de ce bon pays que l’Éternel, votre Dieu, vous a donné.

And thorns. This is an expression of camps. Similarly: “And they will come upon you with camps,”2Yechezkeil 23:24. like a shield (צִנָה) that surrounds a person on three sides, as it is said, “As a shield, you encompass him with favor,”3Tehillim 5:13. תַּעְטְרֶנוּ meaning תְּסוֹבְבֶנוּ, surrounding, similar to “And Shaul and his men surrounded David and his men.”4I Shmuel 23:26. עוֹטְרִים meaning סוֹבְבִים, surrounding.
