Rois 1 10:13 Cabale : Reshit Chokhmah

Reshit Chokhmah

Wish [chefetz] is greater, such that a wish is a person’s will and all the workings of his attention are towards it. He does not budge from it even for a moment, like the matter that is stated, with a single mind and a wishing soul (I Chronicles 28:9). And it is the same as: And the youth lost no time in doing the thing, for he wished Jacob’s daughter (Genesis 34:19). So he did not delay the matter, and it was as if he would die in his love for her, such that he had nothing else that he wanted besides this alone. And likewise in Scripture is the finding of a mate referred to with an expression of wishing, like the matter: all of the wish that she had requested (I Kings 10:13), [about which the Sages], may their memory be blessed, explained that [Solomon] had intercourse with her. And they also explained in the Zohar, “Who have chosen what I wish (Isaiah 56:4) – undifferentiated ‘what I wish’ is the coupling of the Matriarch.” And the reason is that in mating, the entire will of a person, his heart, and all of his limbs are all focused towards it.
