לֹ֣א תִשְׁמַ֗ע אֶל־דִּבְרֵי֙ הַנָּבִ֣יא הַה֔וּא א֛וֹ אֶל־חוֹלֵ֥ם הַחֲל֖וֹם הַה֑וּא כִּ֣י מְנַסֶּ֞ה יְהוָ֤ה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם֙ אֶתְכֶ֔ם לָדַ֗עַת הֲיִשְׁכֶ֤ם אֹֽהֲבִים֙ אֶת־יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֔ם בְּכָל־לְבַבְכֶ֖ם וּבְכָל־נַפְשְׁכֶֽם׃
tu n’écouteras pas les paroles de ce prophète ou de ce visionnaire! Car l’Éternel, votre Dieu, vous met à l’épreuve, pour constater si vous l’aimez réellement de tout votre cœur et de toute votre âme.

"lest there be in your heart a thing belial": From here R. Yehoshua b. Karchah was wont to say: Averting one's eyes from charity is tantamount to serving idols, it being written here "belial," and elsewhere (re idolatry) "belial." Just as there, idolatry is meant, here, too, idolatry.
