וַיִּשְׁלַח֩ הָאֱלֹהִ֨ים ׀ מַלְאָ֥ךְ ׀ לִֽירוּשָׁלִַם֮ לְהַשְׁחִיתָהּ֒ וּכְהַשְׁחִ֗ית רָאָ֤ה יְהוָה֙ וַיִּנָּ֣חֶם עַל־הָֽרָעָ֔ה וַיֹּ֨אמֶר לַמַּלְאָ֤ךְ הַמַּשְׁחִית֙ רַ֔ב עַתָּ֖ה הֶ֣רֶף יָדֶ֑ךָ וּמַלְאַ֤ךְ יְהוָה֙ עֹמֵ֔ד עִם־גֹּ֖רֶן אָרְנָ֥ן הַיְבוּסִֽי׃ (ס)
Puis Dieu envoya un messager divin à Jérusalem pour la ravager, et, comme il se livrait à l’œuvre de destruction, le Seigneur vit et fut ému de cette calamité, et il dit à l’ange destructeur: "Assez! Retire maintenant ta main!" L’ange du Seigneur se trouvait alors près de l’aire d’Ornan, le Jébuséen.
