וַיִּשְׁלַ֞ח יְהוֹאָ֣שׁ מֶֽלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אֶל־אֲמַצְיָ֣הוּ מֶֽלֶךְ־יְהוּדָה֮ לֵאמֹר֒ הַח֜וֹחַ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּלְּבָנ֗וֹן שָׁ֠לַח אֶל־הָאֶ֜רֶז אֲשֶׁ֤ר בַּלְּבָנוֹן֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר תְּנָֽה־אֶת־בִּתְּךָ֥ לִבְנִ֖י לְאִשָּׁ֑ה וַֽתַּעֲבֹ֞ר חַיַּ֤ת הַשָּׂדֶה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּלְּבָנ֔וֹן וַתִּרְמֹ֖ס אֶת־הַחֽוֹחַ׃
Joas, roi d’Israël, adressa à son tour ce message à Amacia, roi de Juda: "Le buisson sur le Liban fit dire au cèdre dix Liban: Accorde ta fille comme épouse à mon fils. Mais une bête sauvage du Liban vint à passer et écrasa le buisson.

And Yoash, king of Israel, sent to Amatzyahu, king of Judah, saying: The thornbush in the Levanon [(Shechem, the son of Chamor)] sent to the cedar in the Levanon [(Jacob)], saying: Give your daughter to my son as a wife. And the animals of the Levanon passed by and trod down the thornbush [(i.e., the sons of Jacob despoiled the slain [(You, too, in your haughtiness, will be trodden down by my cohorts])].
