car à ses anges il a donné mission de te protéger en toutes tes voies.
Jerusalem Talmud Berakhot
If one enters the toilet, he recites two benedictions219It really means “two prayers.”, one before and one after. When he enters, what does he say? Honor220This is not a prayer but an address to the guardian angels who accompany everybody (Ps. 91:11) that they should let him go alone to a place unworthy of their presence. In the Babli (60b), Abbai objects to a similar version since it might imply permanent dismissal of the guardian angels. to you, honored, holy servants, this is the way of the world, let me go. Praise to the God of glory! When he leaves, what does he say? Praise to Him Who created man in wisdom221The Babli (60b) has a much enlarged version. It may be that the version of the Yerushalmi is the complete text that was recited originally, but the Rome manuscript has a text similar to the Babylonian one: ברוּך אשר יצר את האדם בחכמה ועשיתה אותו נקבים נקבים חלולים חלולים כניניות כגיניות שאם יפתח אחד מהן אִפשר לו להחיות ברוּך רופא כל בשר ומפליא לעשות. “Praised Who created man in wisdom and You made him many orifices, many cavities, many secret places. If one of them were be opened it would be impossible to continue living. Praised Who heals all flesh and does wonders.”
The word כניניוֹת appears only here; in the form כונניות it is in Babli Ḥulin 56b. For the translation it was derived from Arabic כַּנִין “hiding places”. [Also compare Latin cannula “reed, pipe”. Since חלולים can mean “round pipes”, חלולים כניניות would be Semitic-Latinate synonyms “pipes-pipes” (E. G.).].

Chagigah
And the sages say, "The soul of a person testifies against him, as it is said, 'From that which sleeps in your bosom, guard your mouth (Micah 7:5).' What is the thing that sleeps in the bosom of a man? You should say, this is the soul." R' Zerikah said, "The two accompanying angels, which escort him, they testify against him, as it is said, 'For he shall command his angels to guard you through all your ways (Psalms 91:11).'" [And the sages say,] The limbs of a man testify against him, as it is said, 'And you are My witnesses, Hashem declares, And I am G-d (Isaiah 43:12).'"
